BOSTON'S FRAN P.

Speaking of setting a foundation for yourself and understanding where you came from, it's always refreshing to meet others who share the same mentality and positive thinking as you do.

I had the pleasure of sitting down and chopping it up with Boston's up and coming rap artist, Fran P, and discussed the current situation with Boston's urban scene. Whereas most artists and dancers from the area are being outsourced and influenced by the brighter lights of New York City and Los Angeles, it's good to meet those who chose to stay true to their roots and strive into putting their hometown on the map. Sure the path may be strenuous but the positive feedback received in the end are by no means unrewarding.

After sitting for no more than a couple of minutes talking to Fran P, it was easy to see that this man is no ordinary individual, shortly after graduating from college, Fran P could of easily secured a career for himself and lived out his life. But instead, chose the path of a linguist and expresses his creativity to the world through his words and messages he puts out. With having only being in the game for a few years, Fran P is already making a name for himself.

Having both agreed that Boston's scene is rich in culture and diversity, it's often overshadowed by its brother cities. To see people from Boston rooting for other sports teams as well as supporting people from other areas instead of our own, it's just unthinkable.

With the wrong people representing Boston's culture and scene, Fran P, along with other Boston individuals plan on making a change to that.

It was refreshing to know that we both shared the same mindset and outlook on life, it was destined that the two of us were to meet. Look out during the coming months for events and collabs between FunkMeOut! Clothing & Boston's Fran P!

Keep checking back on the blog for more info on upcoming T-shirt releases, collabs, new retail stores stocking the brand as well as upcoming events with Fran P and others.

And Today's Words Of Wisedom...

When it comes to anything that involves creativity or just a way for a person to express oneself, its always important to establish a foundation of who you are, where you came from, as well as what path to take in this life you lead.

When it comes to any sort of art, its always important to remember your roots, your past, your background and yet most importantly, your identity.

How would you be able to achieve your dream/goal in life, if you're constantly heading down a path where you are just floating by from day to day, not knowing what direction you're heading nor where you stand?

Whatever a person does in life they should always remain true to oneself and never give into temptation or to the will of others, always stay GROUNDED to what you believe, regardless of what others say, if you follow the path in which your heart says 100%, how can you be wrong? In the end it'll either take you to the path of your dreams or an unforgettable adventure.

How would a person be able to rise up when even they themselves don't even have a proper footing in life? Regardless of what you choose in life, remember that only YOU have a say in where you'd like to be. Do you want to be known as an original individual or someone that copies the ideas and hard work of others?

If a time comes where it feels someone has ripped off your ideas and hard work then so be it, just remember how the old saying goes,

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime"
Someone who steals your hard work and ideas won't get far in life, what they took may last them a short amount of time in the spotlight but you are the one that's able to keep on shining in the long run through your creativity.

In the end, don't get mad, get even, be 10x more productive as well as 10x more creative and show the world what you have to offer, be original! You have a voice so use it! Think outside of the box and see where life takes you.

UNDFTD x CLOT – World In Trouble Tee

Since two of my favorite brands nationally as well as internationally, Los Angeles's Undefeated and Hong Kong's CLOT Inc. , decided to come together and collaborate on a t-shirt to raise awareness of events going on around the globe. Its only natural that I snag this collaboration tee correct? Only available in UNFTD's flagship store in Los Angeles and overseas in Hong Kong, this shirt sold out quick when it was released in LA.

BUT! Thanks to a homie of mine I was able to snag this shirt before it was sold out . YEZZIR! Good looks fam!

"Los Angeles-based UNDFTD has collaborated with Hong Kong’s CLOT on a new t-shirt entitled “World In Trouble”. The collaboration t-shirt features the words “World In Trouble” along with an UNDFTD Strikes Logo and the word, CLOT, spelled out on the front of the tee. The t-shirt will come in either Grey or White. Here’s a look at CLOT’s Edison Chen modeling both colorways of the tee."

Lee's Place Burgers

Lee's Place Burgers
216 Sumner Street Newton, MA 02459
Open Daily 11am-9pm

After wrapping up a short business meeting in Boston with a few friends, we decided to do lunch and find a place to grab a quick bite before continuing on with our day. While having a vast craving for Sweet Potato fries, my friend and I decided to hunt down the best place in the South End of Boston to find that sweet, crispy, golden treat.

After searching around, all fingers led us in the direction of Lee's Place Burgers in Newton, MA.

Upon entering the quaint little eatery, we were greeted with a warm smile by the cashier as we watched one of the workers, who we would later learn to be the owner Lee, serving his patrons. There was a line since we had arrived during the lunch rush but with Lee's expertise and enthusiastic smile, within minutes everyone was happily enjoying their meal. Another thing that I noticed was that nothing on the menu costs more than $7!

The burgers are plump and juicy, simple yet memorable, served on a toasted bulkie roll wrapped in wax paper foil, and comes with thinly sliced onions, fat, ripe tomatoes and crisp Iceberg lettuce leaves on top of a 6 ounce beef patty.

The fries were served piping hot, crispy golden on the outside and soft on the inside, hand cut to perfection. The Sweet Potato fries were banging too!

The owner Lee is by far one of the friendliest owners I have had the pleasure to meet. Being easily approachable, fun to talk to and extremely nice, his presence ALONE is worth coming down to Lee's, having the food there is just a plus!

If burgers are ya thing and you're looking for a new place to grab a bite or you're in the area, then def drop by to check it out.

Check them out on Phantom Gourmet!

Tracks Of The Day

These are some of the joints that I'm currently jamming to. After a long hard day of work, NOTHING soothes a person better than to just put on ya headphones and drift away, agree?

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are

Mike Posner - Bow Chicka Wow Wow

Kero One Ft. Sam Ock - One Bended Knee

Robin Thicke Ft. Snoop Dogg - It's In The Morning

George Watsky Ft. Passion - I Got This Love

MC Jin - Its About Time

At the end of EVERY day ALWAYS remember to rest up and recharge to prepare yaself for the next day. Your body needs a break and so does your mindset, nobody wants to deal with a grouchy person, imagine how much more friends you'll make or how much more recognition you'll get through a smile?

Music helps me unwind, how about you?
